A small parakeet has become the center of attention online after being filmed underwater inside a custom-built mini submarine in the Bahamas.
The bird, named Bebe, was placed inside a specially designed submersible created by its owner, Steven Lawyer. The unusual device, reportedly assembled using a plastic container and a paintball air tank, allowed the bird to descend just under one meter below the surface.
In the now-viral footage, Bebe appears calm as it looks out at the ocean floor, surrounded by colorful coral and marine life.
The miniature submarine was carefully controlled from above. Its creator used a valve system to regulate airflow inside the container, while added weights kept the device submerged instead of floating back up. An oxygen meter was also included to ensure the bird had sufficient air during the short trip.
